ULI Washington YLG - Networking Event: 2.2 Million Square Feet Coming to the Red Line

Twinbrook Station, a joint development of The JBG Companies and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), will be a 2.2 million square-foot mixed-use, transit-oriented development on 26 acres of land surrounding the Twinbrook Metro Station.

Twinbrook Station is an example of commitment to smart growth, sustainable design, and transit-oriented development.  The Twinbrook Station Master Plan has won numerous accolades from both local and international groups including the International 2004 Charter Award for Excellence from the Congress for New Urbanism. This project was also designated a Smart Growth Project by the Coalition for Smarter Growth, which includes the Urban Land Institute, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Audubon Naturalist Society. In addition, Twinbrook Station was given an Honor Award by the Potomac Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and was certified gold by the United States Green Building Council as a pilot project in the LEED Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) program.

The total project build-out will include approximately 325,000 square feet of office space, 220,000 square feet of ground floor retail and 1,595 multi-family residential units, 15 percent of which will be affordable housing. The first phase, The Alaire, includes 279 luxury apartments and 15,000 square feet of retail.

By Car – The project address is 1101 Higgins Place, Rockville, MD 20851. It is a new street and not yet registered on Google Maps.  The nearby intersection is Twinbrook Parkway and Fishers Lane.  The project is located west of the intersection on Fishers Lane.  Metered street parking is available east of the intersection on Fishers Lane.
