    The built environment accounts for nearly 40 percent of carbon emissions globally, with 11 percent embodied in construction materials and 28 percent stemming from building operations. Companies such as Skanska, which are leading in sustainable commercial development, are working to decarbonize the built environment. Many cities have instituted net-zero-building ambitions, and developers must navigate compliance with increasingly stringent codes, standards, and regulations. This session will provide best practices for helping cities, building tenants, and other stakeholders achieve their sustainability and net zero goals and, more importantly, reduce the impact of climate change. Leigh Christy is a Principal in the Los Angeles studio of Perkins & Will, where she leads public- and private-sector projects that focus on benefitting communities, ecosystems and occupants. She sits on the international firm's Research Board and Technology Council. Leigh also co-created and leads the firm's Innovation Incubator program, which has supported more than 300 staff-generated research



Clare De Briere leads the Los Angeles region of Skanska USA Commercial Development, which delivers customer-focused, highly sustainable office, mixed-use and multi-family properties across the United States. In her current role, Clare has been responsible for leading the company's commercial development entry into Los Angeles, which includes land acquisitions, the development and design of new pr



Megan Ross is a Climate Advisor with the Los Angeles Mayor's Office of Sustainability, working in partnership with the American Cities Climate Challenge and NRDC. Her policy portfolio focuses on buildings and energy, including decarbonization pathways, energy benchmarking and performance standards, and energy equity in the built environment. Previous experience includes sustainability consulting
