Entertainment districts in the United States have emerged in the 21st century as places to host cultural events, concerts, sporting events, and large gatherings. In a recent study by Oxford Economics, it was found that the live events industry alone generated a total fiscal impact of $17.5 billion in 2019, including nearly $9.3 billion in federal tax revenues and $8.3 billion in state and local tax revenues. Sports-related travel spending in the United States generated $14.6 billion in total tax revenue in 2019, with $6.8 billion alone for state and local tax revenue.
